The Lagoon Nebula - M8

 

The number 8 of the Messier catalog the Lagoon Nebula is an emission nebulosity area located in the Sagittarius constellation. Associated with the M8 is the young open cluster NGC 6530. On the left of the picture the complex emission and reflection nebula NGC 6559 , IC 1274-75 , IC 4685.  At the bottom center of the image the globular cluster NGC 6544.

 

- Date / Location : 24/05/2001 from Roques de los Muchachos "La Palma" (Canary Island - Spain)
- Optics / Lens : Astro-Physics Traveler 105mm f/6 EDFS  with AP Field Flattener - Nikon F3 
- Mount / Guide : Astro-Physics GE-600E GTO autoguided by SBIG ST4
- Exposure / Film : Composite of two 25-minute on un-hypered Kodak PJ400 Film
- Processing : Film scanned at 3000 dpi with Imacon Flextight Prec. II drum scanner, enhanced with Photoshop 6.0
- Note : Dry climate , no wind
