The Flaming Star Nebula - IC405

 

Beautiful nebula located in the constellation of Auriga.The bright variable star AE Aur, at the center top of the image is the illuminating source for the nebulous area known as the Flaming Star Nebula - IC405. 

 

- Date / Location : 25/11/2001 and 13/01/2002  from Cima Larici Asiago  (Vicenza - Italy)
- Optics / Lens : Astro-Physics Traveler 105mm f/6 EDFS  with AP Field Flattener - Nikon F3 
- Mount / Guide : Astro-Physics GE-600E GTO autoguided by SBIG ST4
- Exposure / Film : Composite of two 35-minute on Kodak PJ400 Film and one 40-min on Kodak E200 Film
- Processing : Film scanned at 2700 dpi with Nikon CoolScan LS30 scanner, enhanced with Adobe Photoshop 6.0
- Note : First quarter moonlight 25/11/2001, good sky with 10 below zero 13/01/2002.
