Le Nubi di Magellano, sono due galassie irregolari satelliti della nostra Via Lattea e sono ben visibili ad occhio nudo dall'emisfero

australe in prossimitą del polo sud astronomico. Essendo relativamente vicine, 160000 anni luce circa per la Grande Nube e

200000 a.l. per la Piccola Nube, esse interagiscono gravitazionalmente sia tra di loro che con la Via Lattea.

Nella foto a largo campo č visibile quello che da recenti studi č chiamato il Fantasma Magellanico.

Il Magellan's Ghost č una debole composizione di nubi di gas, polveri e stelle ancora non chiara, associata a studi e

ricerche su "IFN" Integrated Flux Nebula, Leading Arm, Magellanic Stream, Magellanic Star Bridge.
